Welsummer Chicken
Hen weight-approx. 5 lbs. Developed in Holland in 20th Century. Dual purpose bird. Mature bird is red with some black feathering. Non-setter, generally hardy in the cold. Moderately early maturing, good forager. Economical eater. Lively, but not especially flighty. Easy to handle and friendly. Lays a rich dark reddish-brown egg.
