California - Grey - Female

California Greys are excellent white egg layers. They were developed in California and are a cross of a Barred Rock male and a White Leghorn female. These birds are dual-purpose and self-reliant. Babies are primarily black with a white spot on the top of their heads. The abdomen, chest and wing tips are white. The feathers are barred, black and white, when mature. Females are a darker black than males. The typical weight for females is 4.5 lbs. and for males is 5.5 lbs.
