Dominique - Straight Run

Dominiques are brown egg layers and dual-purpose birds that are one of America's oldest breeds. They are often confused with Barred Rocks, but Dominiques have a rose comb and Barred Rocks have a single comb. The breed is cold hardy and a good choice for free-range farming. Birds are friendly and broody. Babies are slate black and creamy white underneath their breasts and necks, with wings having light spots on ends. The top of their heads are creamy white. Mature birds are black, gray and white. Dominiques have rose combs, angular bodies and are smaller than Barred Rocks. The mature female weight is 5.5 lbs. and male weight is 6.5 lbs.
