Silver Lakenvelders are white egg layers. They are active birds and good foragers. Babies have white and yellow heads, chests and wing tips with the remainder being black. Mature birds have a surface color slate with black necks and tail feathers. Their heads, necks and tails are black. The typical weight is 4.5 lbs. for females and 5 lbs. for males.
